What is cold finishing? And how do you make cold finished bar products? Typically it means any further processing done to a hot rolled steel bar, performed at ambient temperatures. At RGM it means a lot more. Our cold finished bars go through rigorous pre-straightening, precision centerless turning, and thorough finish straightening.
When steel is finished using RGM’s state-of-the-art practices it produces a cleaner, rounder, straighter cold finished bar.
RGM has process controls in place that allow us to produce cold finished bars that are significantly tighter than standard ASTM A108 tolerances. Through our process of straightening, turning (or peeling), and straightening, we produce a smooth clean surface, uniform roundness, and reliable straightness. This allows you to rest assured that you always get the consistency you rely upon. Often referred to as T&P, CF, CD, or RGM-Tech PCF, our cold finished products are available in a variety of size and grade combinations
